The University of California Open Enrollment period begins tomorrow, Oct. 28 at 8 a.m. and will run through 5 p.m. Nov. 24.

During open enrollment, UCR employees may change to a different medical plan or dental plan, enroll eligible family members in those health plans, and enroll or re-enroll in a health or dependent care flexible spending account (FSA). FSA participants must re-enroll each year.

Changes made during open enrollment will be effective Jan. 1.

Medical plan monthly premiums are increasing by as little as $1 for some employees to more than $200 for others, depending on the plan, the employee’s salary band and whether the employee chooses to cover only themselves or their family members as well.

Rates for 2010 can be found at webdev.ucop.edu/atyourservice_dev/news/health/10medplan_costs.html.

The programs and coverage levels remain largely unchanged, but there are a few differences.

For instance, the co-pay on most prescription generic drugs has dropped. Other plan changes are available at the Open Enrollment Web site at atyourservice.ucop.edu/open_enrollment.

This year employees may enroll in the ARAG legal plan, which provides a wide range of legal services for a small monthly premium. Enrollment in the plan is only open during certain years.

Employees can vsit the At Your Service Web site at atyourservice.ucop.edu and select the open enrollment 2010 icon to read about open enrollment, plan changes and plan details for 2010.
