Fall Plant Sale Set for Oct. 20 and 21
The UC Riverside Botanic Gardens (UCRBG) will host several events in the coming months, starting with the 30th annual Friends of the UCRBG Fall Plant Sale on Oct. 20 and 21, and continuing with classes for children and adults, a new Art in the Gardens event and a cleanup day.
A complete listing of events at UCR is located at www.events.ucr.edu
The plant sale will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 20 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 21. Take advantage of the cool fall weather to get plants established so they will grow faster in spring and require less water next summer.
Nearly 10,000 plants, including many rare and unusual varieties, will be for sale. There will be colorful, heat-loving trees and shrubs, flowering perennials, miniature roses, rare cacti and other succulents, lots of herbs, patio and houseplants, wildflower seeds and more. A special selection of showy, water-efficient and California native plants will also be available for the fall planting season.

Gardens’ staff and volunteers and UC Cooperative Extension Riverside County master gardeners will be available to answer questions. The master gardeners will also be selling herb and vegetable plants, including a number of Asian vegetables and other fall favorites. There will also be free classes during the plant sale.
