Joining Forces to Support UC, Higher Education
More than 200 University of California alumni and friends converged on Sacramento last week to bring an important message to state legislators: the UC’s 10 campus’ play a key role in the economic health of the state, in providing a top-notched education to the leaders and innovators of the future and in conducting cutting-edge research that provides solutions that positively affect the economy, health and welfare of the state, nation and the world.

Campus Health Center Receives Accreditation
UC Riverside’s Campus Health Center has received accreditation through the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AACHC). The center joins 29 other university-based accredited health centers in California and is the sixth UC campus so distinguished.

Andy Plumley, assistant vice chancellor for housing and dining, has agreed to dress in drag to raise funds for student scholarships.

Homecoming Fun
Homecoming week at UCR started on Feb. 21 and included a karaoke contest, a birthday party for Scotty Highlander and a bonfire. Alumni were invited to take part in a hike to the “C” on Box Springs Mountain, to take a campus tour and to attend back-to-class sessions.

As the search for a new executive vice chancellor and provost moves forward, two candidates for the position were invited to campus last week to take part in a seminar and discussion about their vision for the position and their thoughts on the future direction of the campus.

Renovations Reap Historical Memories
UCR is in the process of renovating the physical education gym and Hall of Fame. In support of the renovations, UCR alumni, fans and friends can contribute and receive a piece of the historic gym floor, first laid in 1954.
