$9 Million USDA Grant Funds Study of Potato and Tomato Disease
Late blight, caused by a fungus-like microbe, is a plant disease that mainly attacks potatoes and tomatoes, is difficult and economically challenging to eradicate, and was largely responsible for the Irish potato famine of the mid-19th century. Infected potatoes show gray or dark patches outside; inside, such potatoes show reddish -brown lesions.

UCR Represented at Tournament
UCR was well represented at the NCAA Menís Basketball West Regional at the Honda Center in Anaheim on March 23-26. UC Riverside Director of Athletics Stan Morrison, a member of the NCAA Division I Menís Basketball Committee, oversaw the tournament action. UCR staff members (from left) Melissa Korc, Ross French, Lauren Kane, John Maxwell, Joe Erbland and John Smallwood all volunteered their services during the four-day tournament.
