Staff member Aaron Bushong gets the rare opportunity to help save a life as a bone marrow donor.
He was a strong believer in the value of donating blood so one day when the issue of donating bone marrow came up, UCR staffer Aaron Bushong gave it some thorough consideration.

UCR Gets a Jolt
The freeway construction blast shatters windows, frazzles nerves.
UC Riverside got an afternoon jolt on March 15, courtesy of Caltrans, when an explosion at a construction site along Interstate 215/Highway 60 packed enough power to shatter several windows in College Building North.

UCR Holds Education Roundtable
A Governorís representative comes to UCR to discuss educational issues.
During a March 9 visit to UCR, California Deputy Education Secretary Scott Himelstein briefed local education officials about the educational portion of Gov. Schwarzenegger's 10-year strategic growth plan, the current educational budget proposal and listened to local education concerns and needs.

External Advisory Board to Guide UCR on Development of Medical School
Members include nationally prominent leaders in medical education.
To move forward with its plans to develop a full four-year, research-based medical school, UC Riverside has established a blue-ribbon external advisory board. The board will help craft a distinctive academic vision for the medical school and help develop a business plan to ensure the school's success.

A Juicy Opportunity
Volunteers sought to help at an anniversary event.
A citrus tasting booth, designed to provide visitors with the opportunity to sample the sweet and sour tastes of nearly 30 citrus varieties, will be the centerpiece attraction on April 22 when UCR celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Citrus Research Center-Agricultural Experiment Station.
