Faculty Asked to Provide Input on the Role of K-12 Outreach
UCR faculty members have a variety of choices in deciding how to fulfill their role in carrying out the university’s mission of research, teaching and service. One option is to be involved with K-12 education. Faculty will have an opportunity to voice their opinions about this option in an online, confidential survey later this month.

Abani Named Distinguished Humanist Achievement Lecturer
Christopher Abani, professor of creative writing, has been named the Distinguished Humanist Achievement Lecturer by the advisory board of UCR’s Center for Ideas and Society. The annual Humanist Achievement Lecture recognizes, acknowledges and celebrates a significant research accomplishment, performance or creative work, which may be a recent book, a series of articles or an especially distinguished performance, wrote Emory Elliott, director of the Center for Ideas and Society, in a letter advising Abani of his selection.
