UC Staff Organization Pays a Visit to UCR
On June 5 and 6 UCR hosted the summer quarterly meeting of the Council of UC Staff Assemblies (CUCSA), a group that includes two staff delegates from each of the 10 UC campuses, as well as delegates from the Office of the President, the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Sikh Studies Chair Endowed
Pashaura Singh, professor of religious studies, has been appointed to the recently endowed Dr. Jasbir Singh Saini Chair in Sikh and Punjabi (Language) Studies. The chair, funded by the Sikh Foundation with contributions from the Saini Foundation and a number of individuals, is intended to further the study of Sikhism and Sikh culture at UCR.

More Freshmen Declare Their Commitment to UCR this Fall
As of May 23, UCR had 4,828 Statements of Intent to Register (SIRs) from first-time freshmen and another 555 from students who want to transfer in from other colleges, representing an increase of about 20 percent over the previous year.
